There are some places in this world that are so magical, so incredibly beautiful, that you can't help falling in love. For us, that place in Baja California was Bahía Concepción.
Soak in the Oasis of Mulegé, Baja’s Colorful Colonial Town
Mulegé, a quiet little oasis in Baja Sur, is the perfect place to call home for a few days after soaking in San Ignacio. It’s a charming little town that attracts a lot of expats, snowbirds and travelers, as well as an ideal stop to regroup and resupply before heading to a beautiful beach area called Bahiá Concepíon.
Campground Review: Ecoturismo Kuyimá in Laguna de San Ignacio
In Baja California Sur, Laguna de San Ignacio is a key destination for many – it’s a prime location for spotting gray whales during their winter migration. Every year, these incredible creatures travel more than 10,000 miles between their summer feeding grounds in the Arctic and the coastal lagoons of the southern Baja peninsula. When we decided to van life down Baja, we were excited to realize that our timing would sync up with the chance to see gray whales in the wild!

Baja California, Mexico! What a place to be. Our first week in Baja was concentrated in the port city of Ensenada, about two hours south of the San Diego/Tijuana border. Since it was our first time driving through, we wanted to spend some time getting acquainted with the area, local resources and navigating our way around town. Well, that and eating all the tacos! ?

The best by far is the Traveler's Guide to Camping Mexico's Baja by Church & Church. The book gives you a rundown on everything you need to know about each region, as well as many recommended campgrounds and RV parks throughout Baja California. Our plan was to find a location near Ensenada for our first stay. As we drove along Hwy 1, we marveled at the most gorgeous scenic views. Fortunately for us, these panoramic views are home to Playa Saldamando, a primitive campground that faces the…

Yep, you read that right. As of right now, we’re in our van making our way across the border to Baja California, Mexico! ??? Steven and I started talking about our dream destinations late last Fall, and Baja kept creeping up to the top of our list. We thought, How wild would it be if we spent a couple months exploring this beautiful peninsula of Mexico? Shortly after making the big decision to go for it in the New Year, the founders of The Van Life app announced that they were kicking off a Baja to Alaska Tour at the end of January through July. We couldn’t believe the timing!…
