When people ask us what has been our favorite destination on our Great Big Adventure, without a doubt or an ounce of hesitation -- it's Baja California, Mexico. From the delicious and affordable food, to the warm weather, beautiful views and friendly locals, Baja has left an impression on our entire family that we'll never forget.
You’ll Love This 50/50 Chorizo & Beef Tacos Recipe
If you've been following our Instagram for awhile, you know that we're hooked on 50/50 chorizo and beef tacos. We've perfected this recipe over the past several months. Although you can make this dish with just chorizo, we've found that by adding lean beef, it's less greasy and more filling. It's also super simple and very delicious. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Last Stop in Baja California: Los Barriles
The last town we explored in Baja was a cute little community called Los Barriles. It’s a laidback, sleepy town on the East Cape, and a popular spot for windsurfing and fishing. Little did we know at the time, Los Barriles would be our last true stop in Baja California.
Why You Should Visit Cabo Pulmo Instead of Los Cabos
When most people think of Baja California, Mexico, you might first think of Cabo San Lucas. An ultra-popular vacation destination, Cabo is known for its party scene, luxurious resorts and tourism. What most people don’t consider is that only a couple hours away lays the most picturesque beaches known as Cabo Pulmo.
Why You’ll Want to Camp at Todos Santos Hostel
As excited as we were to arrive in Todos Santos, we were surprised by how few places there are to camp in the area. We consulted with our iOverlander app, and reviews were pretty mixed too. The beach sites were pretty crowded and many had litter everywhere. One particular RV park near downtown had terrible reviews -- it was reportedly infested with fleas and had dirty bathrooms. ¡No gracias!
Experience the Magic of Todos Santos, Baja’s Most Artistic Village
Ever since Steven and I decided to spend the latter part of winter in Baja, Mexico, Todos Santos has been on our radar. A vibrant community grounded in art and culture, it stood out to us as a key destination that we simply needed to explore!
Campground Review: Campestre Maranatha in La Paz, Baja California Sur
Hands down, we all agreed that this was one of the nicest campgrounds in all of Baja! It's easy to see as you drive in. Primarily used as a Christian campground and the base for Maranatha Ministries, the property is used by local churches, schools, and families for many different activities. It's HUGE! The entire campground is seven acres, with plenty of spots for RV hookups and dry camping. The grounds are meticulously maintained, which is impressive given its size.
Campground Review: Peace Hostel in La Paz, Baja California Sur
During our first couple of days in La Paz, we were hoping to find a place that checked two boxes for us: 1) had hot showers, and 2) was within walking distance to the city's malecon. After looking at another RV campground that had initially looked promising online, we decided to try staying at a hostel instead. I know -- the title of this post says it's campground review. Well, it is! Hang with me for a minute.
It’s Our 1-Year Nomadiversary!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a whole year of our Great Big Adventure! ?? Not so long ago, Steven was working every evening and weekend to convert our 12-passenger Sprinter van into a home on wheels. I quit my job, and became focused on selling and donating a majority of our belongings while our house was on the market. The day we left our hometown, we had people coming to pick up our beds! Our home sold a week after we hit the road...
Living It Up in La Paz, Baja California Sur
After our remote adventure in Agua Verde, we packed things up and began the five hour trek south to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. Based on some of our early reading about Baja, both Steven and I were excited to explore this city and see all that it had to offer.
