As excited as we were to arrive in Todos Santos, we were surprised by how few places there are to camp in the area. We consulted with our iOverlander app, and reviews were pretty mixed too. The beach sites were pretty crowded and many had litter everywhere. One particular RV park near downtown had terrible reviews -- it was reportedly infested with fleas and had dirty bathrooms. ¡No gracias!
Experience the Magic of Todos Santos, Baja’s Most Artistic Village
Ever since Steven and I decided to spend the latter part of winter in Baja, Mexico, Todos Santos has been on our radar. A vibrant community grounded in art and culture, it stood out to us as a key destination that we simply needed to explore!
Campground Review: Campestre Maranatha in La Paz, Baja California Sur
Hands down, we all agreed that this was one of the nicest campgrounds in all of Baja! It's easy to see as you drive in. Primarily used as a Christian campground and the base for Maranatha Ministries, the property is used by local churches, schools, and families for many different activities. It's HUGE! The entire campground is seven acres, with plenty of spots for RV hookups and dry camping. The grounds are meticulously maintained, which is impressive given its size.
Campground Review: Peace Hostel in La Paz, Baja California Sur
During our first couple of days in La Paz, we were hoping to find a place that checked two boxes for us: 1) had hot showers, and 2) was within walking distance to the city's malecon. After looking at another RV campground that had initially looked promising online, we decided to try staying at a hostel instead. I know -- the title of this post says it's campground review. Well, it is! Hang with me for a minute.
It’s Our 1-Year Nomadiversary!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a whole year of our Great Big Adventure! ?? Not so long ago, Steven was working every evening and weekend to convert our 12-passenger Sprinter van into a home on wheels. I quit my job, and became focused on selling and donating a majority of our belongings while our house was on the market. The day we left our hometown, we had people coming to pick up our beds! Our home sold a week after we hit the road...
Living It Up in La Paz, Baja California Sur
After our remote adventure in Agua Verde, we packed things up and began the five hour trek south to La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur. Based on some of our early reading about Baja, both Steven and I were excited to explore this city and see all that it had to offer.
Van Life Gear Review: Venture Wipes
Here’s a truth bomb for ya... we take showers 1-2 a week! ? Yeah, yeah. Save the judgement until you decided to go live and travel in a van! ? While it’s not ideal for everyone, it’s the trade-off we make in order to seek out the most beautiful places to camp off-grid. Fortunately for us, we recently partnered with Venture Wipes to put their product to the test!
5 Must-Read Novels for May
You guys, I’ve been slacking. We hit the road a couple weeks ago, which has preoccupied my focus as we seek out new and remote places to camp. My bad! I’ve also been reading a TON during the pandemic, which has honestly been a great way to pass the time. And I’ve read some fantastic books lately! Without further ado, here are my top book recommendations for May.
Arctix Kids Rain Jacket Review
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we’re pretty picky about the gear we bring into the van. First, we don’t have a lot of space since we live in an 86-square-foot home on wheels. And secondly, we need apparel that’s going to stand the test of time… because we’re literally wearing it on the daily.
The Best Healthy Snacks for Road Trips
Let's face it -- we've all gotten to the point during this shelter in place where we're snacking like crazy, and not always making the best choices. Quarantine life is tough! Thankfully, we decided early on to keep the unhealthy snacks to a minimum. And even though the pantry doesn't have any temptations anymore, we still wanna snack. Over the past month, we've discovered some new favorites, as well as a few staples!
